The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its second official computer points rankings of the football season on Tuesday, and Maumee took a slight tumble in the Division III, Region 10 list.

The Panthers fell three spots to No. 9 after last week’s 28-15 loss at Eastwood. Maumee would face Norwalk on the road if the rankings held steady.

With three of their last five opponents all ranked inside the top-16 of their respective regions, the Panthers have plenty of opportunities to climb back into the top-8 in the region. After Week 10, the top 8 teams in each region will host the first round of playoffs, with the second round hosted by the higher remaining seed.

Maumee has not qualified for the playoffs since 2010. Every team in Ohio made the playoffs in 2020, during the Covid pandemic.

None of the Panthers non-conference opponents are in line to qualify for the playoffs.

In addition to Maumee, five Northern Buckeye Conference schools are currently inside the cut line. The Panthers last two opponents, Oak Harbor and Eastwood, are currently fourth and fifth in Division V, Region 18, respectively.

Maumee’s next opponent, Lake, is No. 16 in Division V, Region 18. The Panthers will then host Genoa, which is sixth in that same region.

Maumee closes the season against Otsego, the No. 6 team in Division IV, Region 14.

According to the website Drew Pasteur's Ohio Fantastic 50, the Panthers are predicted to finish at No. 7 in their region and host Copley in the first round.
