Maumee football handled its business in its final tune up before opening the 2024 season on Friday night at Waite.
The Panthers dominated all facets of the game, putting up 43 unanswered points on the host Indians in two quarters of live-action play.
Maumee made marked improvements in various areas from its first scrimmage the week before, including cutting down the number of penalties.
On offense, the Panthers easily moved the ball, whether through the air via Ben Kubicz to Carson Graetz, Will Kubicz or Tristen Dotson, on the ground with Cody Wulf and Keishon Midcalf chewing up the yards.
The offensive line, which needed to replace four starters from last year, kept Kubicz clean in the pocket and opened up holes for Wulf and Dotson. Returning center Espn Hurt was joined by Ryan Patterson, Robbie Burlew, Michael Conrad and Pierce Simpson in the starting lineup, with junior Jackson Schneider rotating in at both guard spots.
On defense, the Panthers showed even more improvement, coming up with multiple turnovers and swarming the ball on tackles.
This week is the start of the regular season for Maumee, which travels to Springfield for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday.
