Maumee girls soccer coach Jeremiah McNutt has decided to step down from his position. He informed the school and players of his decision on Monday.
McNutt also sent this statement to Inside Maumee Athletics:
After six seasons as the Lady Panthers soccer head coach, I have decided to step down. When I first arrived, the question most asked of me was, ‘Why Maumee?’ My answer was the same every time, to bring the program back to its glory days. After back-to-back district titles, four straight sectional championships, and the first league title, I believe I have fulfilled my promise. My hope is that the next coach will take the program to the next level. The Lady Panthers soccer program will always have a special place in my heart, and I wish the program, players and parents the best of luck.
McNutt started coaching at Maumee in 2019. During his time, he amassed a 43-66-12 record. His win total is second among all Panthers girls soccer coaches, tied with Frank Ketelaar and trailing on Steve Kilkolski’s 140.
His four straight sectional titles is a school record and is tied with Kilkolski for the most by a Panthers girls soccer coach. McNutt’s teams also won two of the three district titles for Maumee.
The 2023 Panthers won the only league title in program history, and its 14 wins rank second most in a season. That team also ranks among program leaders in goals scored (56), most shutouts (8) and best winning percentage (.668).
The Panthers went 8-8-3 last season, winning a sectional title before losing in the district semifinal.
McNutt played at Toledo Central Catholic. His coaching resume includes stops at St. John’s Jesuit, Owens Community College, Toledo Celtics Soccer Club and his alma mater. He also started the program at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado.
