Lucy Porter continues her climb up the Maumee girls basketball record books.

During a 58-30 win over Clay on Tuesday night, Porter became the second-leading scorer in Panthers history. After scoring 21 points in the win, she now has 1,095 for her career.

Porter said getting into the top-3 on the scoring list definitely was a goal this season.

“I took a picture at the beginning of the season of the scoreboard, and I’ve been keeping track,” she said. “I really wanted to get into that top-3, so I’m really happy with that. I’m really glad I got into second place.”

Porter is averaging nearly 18 points and more than nine rebounds per game for Maumee, which improved to 11-6 overall with the win over the Eagles.

She’s 169 points shy of Erin Vick’s 1,264 points for first place on the scoring list. With five regular season games left to play and at least one playoff game, Porter would have to average nearly 28 points per game in her final six games.

The Panthers are next at home on Thursday night, hosting Eastwood in a Northern Buckeye Conference clash.
